2010 Trendiest Hotel in the World - CitizenM, Amsterdam

TripAdvisor recently announced the Travelers' Choice Awards for 2010 and we can't wait to check-in to the #1 Trendiest Hotel in the World, CitizenM in Amsterdam.

First of all, we love that the award was given by travelers.  Firsthand experience is hard to beat.

Second, we really like the way the folks at CitizenM think.  They look at travel a bit differently and we love their concept. Here is how they describe the latest generation of travelers..."A new type of traveler is walking through the door. These modern individuals are explorers, culture-seekers, professionals and shoppers. They travel a lot – both long and short haul. They are independent, share a respect for the places they visit and are young at heart."   Hmmm, sounds a bit like 30-something travelers, doesn't it?  I think we are on to something.

Last but not least, this hotel seems to have thought of everything we want when we travel, even things we didn't know we wanted, and put them all under one roof.
  • Central location (of course)
  • Free wi-fi
  • Free movies on demand
  • Global plug system for the EU, UK and US
  • Frette linens (wow!)
  • Skype/VOIP rates for local and international phone calls
  • 24-hour canteen (because not everyone arrives before 9PM

I am thinking up excuses for a trip to Amsterdam right now, just to check out this hotel.  If you get there before we do, let us know what you think.

  2. Looks very cool, I wish my home had a similar feel. Interesting touch that they have the cover of a George Michel album on the wall of the cafeteria.
